TANROADS SIGNS CONTRACTS FOR REHABILITATION OF KOROGWE – MKUMBARA – SAME ROAD (172 KM)26 JANUARY 2012The Minister for Works, Hon John Pombe Magufuli (MP) witnessed the Contracts Signing for Rehabilitation of Korogwe – Mkumbara – Same Road.Korogwe – Mkumbara – Same road project which is 172 kilometers is part of the North East Corridor (T2). The rehabilitation of this road project which passes through Tanga and Kilimanjaro region has been divided into two sections namely: Korogwe – Mkumbara (76 km) and Mkumbara – Same (96 km).Lot 1: Korogwe – Mkumbara Section (76 km) was signed between TANROADS and Contractor, M/s Strabag International GmbH of Germany. JOINT PRESS STATEMENT BY HON. DR. JOHN P. MAGUFULI (MP), MINISTER FOR WORKS OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA AND H.E. MASAKI OKADA, AMBASSADOR OF JAPAN IN TANZANIA ON PROJECT FOR WIDENING OF KILWA ROAD (PHASE II) – 4TH JANUARY 2012 1.Following observed premature failure of the pavement of Kilwa Road especially Phase II works,the Minister for Works of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Ambassador of Japan in Tanzania agreed to form a Joint Task Force (JTF) in June, 2011 with a view to jointly   establish causes of the premature pavement failures and thereafter determine the mutually agreeable appropriate remedial measures. 2.The JTF started its activities on 10th June 2011 (1st JTF Meeting) and thereafter the JTF Working Group conducted several meetings and joint field studies.
